Who runs it
Get Settled is an online audio game run by a small team, the admins. It's offered as it is: we work to keep it online, working and fair, but we can't promise it's always up, free of bugs, or that nothing is ever lost.
Who can play
You need to be 13 or older. Going out with other players (dating, and in time engagement and marriage) is only for players who are 18 or older and say so in the game; saying so when it isn't true breaks these rules. You may have more than one character, but not to get around a mute or a ban, or to cheat.
The rules in town
Be decent to other players. Not allowed: harassing, threatening or bullying anyone; hate speech or slurs; sexual messages to people who don't want them, and anything sexual involving children, ever; flooding chat or voice; pretending to be an admin; sharing anyone's real name, address or other personal details; cheating, using bugs on purpose, or programs that play for you; trying to get into other people's characters or attacking the server. Found a bug? Tell us with F4 instead of using it.
Friends and other players
Anything you do to another player, such as a hug or asking them out, is asked of them first, and they can say no. You can block anyone: nothing of theirs reaches you any more, and they aren't told. Keeping on at someone who has said no, or getting around a block with another character, is harassment.
If you break the rules
The admins can warn you, mute you in chat, remove you from the game, or ban a character or a connection, for a while or for good, and can take back what was gained by cheating. How serious something is, is the admins' call. If you think a decision was wrong, open a ticket with F4.
Voice and phone calls
Your voice goes live to the players who can hear you; the server passes it on and doesn't record it. But anyone can record what they hear, so don't say what you wouldn't want repeated.
What the server keeps about you
Your character's name, and its password scrambled so nobody can read it, the admins included. Your character's gender, money, things, cars, homes and where it is. Your email address, confirmed with a code: it's used only to send you codes for your account, like one to choose a new password, and nothing else. Your phone's contacts and text messages. Your friends, who you've blocked, who you're going out with and the dates you've had, the line you write in your profile, and whether you've said you're 18 or older. What's said in public chat, and the chat around a report. Your tickets and reports, and the replies. The internet address (IP address) you log in from, to stop password guessing and too many new characters, and for bans. We don't ask your real name, and don't sell or give any of this to anyone. Only the admins see it, and only to run the game and look into reports.
How long
Your character, its phone and its things are kept as long as the game runs. The server's records (logins and their addresses, chat, reports, tickets) are kept so the admins can look into problems. The server makes a copy of the game's data each night, and copies are kept up to 60 days, so a deleted character is gone from those after 60 days too.
On your computer
The game keeps your settings, and the passwords of characters you log in with, in game_settings.txt in its folder, so don't play on a computer others use if you don't want them logging in as you. It also writes what happened in game_log.txt, to find problems; it stays on your computer unless you send it to us.
Deleting your character
Ask with a ticket (F4) and an admin deletes it, with its phone, its messages and its email.
Changes
If these change, the game asks you to read and agree again before you play.
Questions about any of this: a ticket with F4, in the game.
